REHABILITATION

Regency House believes our residents are extraordinary people who refuse to allow temporary setbacks or disabilities to affect them permanently.  Their determination and effort become invaluable tools in the rehabilitation process.  It is our greatest privilege to partner with them – or you, or your loved one – during recovery and become your strongest advocate on the road to reclaiming independence.

Regency House provides short-term rehabilitation at the highest standards.   We partner with Red River Rehab.  They are mentored by Louisiana's only Geriatric Certified Occupational Therapist. This allows us to tailor our residents’ individual needs with the goal of increasing strength, mobility, and maximizing daily functions.

A physical therapist will create a plan of care to help you improve strength, balance, and endurance while an occupational therapist will work with you to master activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation and other skills.  A speech therapist is available to work with you in the areas of swallowing, speech, memory, and cognition.

We focus on caring for residents with many conditions including, but not limited to:  joint replacement, orthopedic injuries, stroke and neurological conditions, cardiac-related problems, pulmonary impairment, diabetes management, post-surgical recovery, and wound care.

RESIDENT CENTERED MINDSET

There are many aspects of resident-centered care but the most important is the relationship between the resident and staff.  From the outset, we determine a person’s basic physical needs and then learn how the residents wants those needs met.  The questions to the resident are as simple as: “When do you like to wake up?”, “When do you like to eat your meals?”, “Do you like a shower or a bath?”, and “What time of the day would you like that shower or bath?”

While having these basic needs met is essential to a resident’s care and peace of mind, our intimate size allows us to know our residents – their education, occupation, hobbies, interests, and relationships with family and friends.  Knowing them as a person allows our staff to build a better relationship with our resident.  This enables our staff to recognize when something is out of sync and to share that with our team so that adjustments can be made that will benefit the resident.
